Helpful hint on keeping cool in the summer while cake decorating!

I was just decorating a cake and thought how helpful it would be to share a couple of my tricks when icing a cake in a hot room, in case you do not have air conditioning.

First trick: If your hands get too hot to control the consistency of the icing in the bag, keep a bowl of ice water on the table and dip your hands in it to keep them cool. It is refreshing and works well to keep the icing in the bag from getting too thin.

Second: Everyone has had at one time of another had a problem in the summer time making icing. A trick for keeping it from getting too thin is to put a teaspoon of meringue powder in the icing when you make it. You can get this at Michael's, Wall mart, or any other store that sells cake supplies. If you can't find this product, another trick is to use a teaspoon of corn starch.

Well happy decorating. I hope this helps.
